Reza Aramesh The Twilight of World Capitalism (by William Z Foster)

Reza Aramesh
In my artwork I am interested in poetic and political compositions that can be realized in a diverse range of media, including performance, installations, sculpture, video, photography and work on paper. I use overlapping layers of narrative to explore notions of identity whether fictionalized or real, contemporary politics, religion and morality. The aesthetic of my photographs is often informed by my deep interest in film history, literature, painting and performance history. I normally work with non-professional or semi-professional actors/models as signifiers and the art produced from that should work like a catalyst: a stream of possible meanings that can unravel many discursive journeys. Recent solo exhibitions and projects have included You were the dead, their’s was the future, which was Specially commissioned performance for Seduced: Art and Sex from Antiquity to Now at the Barbican Art Gallery, London, in 2007 as well as Who is the third that walks beside you? Matthew Bown Gallery, London. I am a Believer performance and billboard project was performed originally at Trafalgar Square, ICA in 2006 and exhibited in 2007 at Watermans Centre in London.
